So I tried Raindrop.io Pro for a month. Unfortunately, I'm uninstalling this app and going back to Chrome Bookmarks for now. Why?
Categorizing, saving, locating and launching bookmarks needs to be more intuitive and faster.
I have a highly organized way of categorizing bookmarks. That means I have lots of logically nested subfolders. To make this app useful - saving and retrieving bookmarks needs to be as quick and intutive as Chrome Bookmarks or better.
1) If I can't resize (or move to top / bottom of screen) the sidebar, I can't work with my structure. This is because we cant see the names of the subfolders or files in the sidebar menu. See the screenshot (I posted this request as an addition to an existing request Reposting it here)
2) By default, Chrome Bookmarks search bar searches globally through all Bookmarks. Raindrop searches locally - then its another click to search globally. This adds additional clicks. Global search by default is quicker, inconjunction with...
3) In Chrome Bookmarks, - right clicking on a bookmark in the results pane give a "Show in folders" command. This opens the subfolder with all related bookmarks that we've already categorized - and jumps to the subfolder in the sidebar view.
This command allows super fast retrieval of information in our library. WIthout it...and without the ability to even read the name of our subfolders in the sidebar...navigation is way too hard.
4) Keyboard shortcuts for every command need to be available and customizable.
I've been looking for a replacement for Chrome Bookmarks for a long time now. The limitations are that it slows down more as my library gets larger. I wanted to find an alternative solution that has many of the features of Raindrop.io (storage in the cloud, better tagging, better previewing, more space for notes in the bookmark description).
Unfortunately the bad navigation is killing the deal for now. Hope you take a look at this and reflect on how you can make the user experience better and I'll give it another shot! Thanks
