How can this be marked as complete when the feature doesn't work?
You're still validating only on web protocols.
This is more about supporting URL Protocols in general and less about constraining the user to an opinionated use case specific to
https?|ftp|file
etc. The URL Protocol specification is clear so you can validate the format and not the contents of it.Browsers handle opening URL Protocols, all you do is open the resource and the browser handles it for you. The browser requests user permission to open the resource, and that's that.
This would open up Raindrop to a much higher level of functionality and use case scenarios which leads to a wider audience for you.
Anyone can register custom URL Protocols in Windows very easily however there's a multitude of applications that provide URL Protocol functionality.
For example https://www.voidtools.com/ Everything search tool registers its
es://
URL protocol to open Everything search results from a browser link. I use this all the time it's super useful. This would mean that Raindrop could link to resources on a computer/network as well as on the internet.MPC-BE https://sourceforge.net/projects/mpcbe/ can be launched passing the media resource in the URL. So Raindrop could open the media resource directly in the media player by simply opening the URL and the browser in turn opens the resource.
