i think 3 stars are enough. minimal.

The ranking system is only useful IF it is combined with adding a sort by ranking.

So very every bookmark you can give it 1 to 5 stars. Then for a collection of your choosing you can make the sorting sort by ranking desc. That way the most important bookmarks are at the top where you want them.

If this could be a part of a full set of "value" options that would be even better. Would like to see voting (👍, +1 or ^) added to favoriting (hearts) and ranking (stars) so that when I share a list of, say, product pages with other people, everyone can vote on the ones that they like and the list can be sorted by vote.

I'm interested in having this feature as well. Will this be tackled any time soon?

I like this idea! You can already sort of implement it using the tagging system. Just create a new tag with the star ranking you want it to reflect. This way is super customizable because the total number of stars is not decided for you. I've attached two screenshots: one ranking out of 5, the other out of 10. I included empty stars to make it clear, but it's not necessary if you know how your rating system is constructed.

The only down side is that you won't be able to order them by rating... but this is at least an alternative until it makes it into the app!

Five stars is so limiting. Seven stars gives a better range.

Similar to a ranking system, it would be nice to have a field for priority from 1 to 4, but that could be a separate feature so they can be used for different purposes by different users.

Yes, a 5 star ranking AND with the ability to search by rating would be a fantastic feature. Something like this but might work on mobile...
